About McBurnie Group

Shane McBurnie took over a small workshop in a Belmore Street garage 34 years ago.  He had a Lathe and a milling machine.  The owner at the time was ready for retirement and ready for somebody to take over and to service his client base that had been built up over the years.  Shane was at the time 18 years old and completing a Fitter / Turner apprenticeship at ADI which is now known as Thales.

The workshop took up a very small area in a garage.  This site is now the Woolworths petrol station.

As business grew Shane realised he would have to re-locate to a larger space as he needed to grow the business and purchase new equipment.

Shane re-located into a vacant shed down an alley way behind Belmore Street.  The location was situated behind a locally owned business now known as Tame café.

As demand for services grew Shane realised there was a need for a qualified welder and thus employed Dugald Bruce.  The business grew quickly, and therefore it was decided to purchase a block of land and build at the now current site at 12 Acacia Street, Yarrawonga.

The shed consisted of a spare parts section at the front with a workshop located in the rear for machining and welding.

However, as demand increased there was a need to build onto the existing premises and over the years a second shed was built to re-house machining and a plasma cutting room.

Today McBurnie Group employees 10 permanent staff as well as sub-contractors.
